Company Bio

Revolution Design Custom Fabrication, LLC was started by Joe Archibald in 2000 as Arc Design Custom Woodworking. It has grown and changed over the past 6 years to focus on contemporary work with an environmentally friendly approach. Joe has over 20 years experience in the construction industry ranging from the production framing of homes in coastal North Carolina, the renovation of a house in the historic Plaza neighborhood of Charlotte, work with a sign company at the Wintergreen Resort in Virginia, to the design of residences on Dewees Island, South Carolina. Joe graduated from UNC Charlotte in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and worked for 6 years as an architectural intern in Asheville before starting his own business. Since staring business, Joe has completed work in custom residences in Asheville, Blowing Rock, Fairview and Hayesville, NC and Dewees Island, SC.

Environmental Consciousness

Revolution Design utilizes environmentally friendly practices and strives to be a better steward toward our planet. Our cabinets are built using the European ‘frameless style’ cabinet system, which provides for more efficient space utilization of the cabinets while reducing material usage. The use of veneers in many applications saves the valuable resource of wood while allowing the use of exotic woods such as Bubinga, Sapele and Lacewood. Durable water based finishes with low-VOC’s, the use of no added formaldehyde sheet goods, efficient material utilization, sourcing materials from local suppliers and companies with an environmental commitment and the recycling of packaging products are other ways in which we strive to limit the impact of our work on natural resources. We are proud to be a member of the US Green Building Council, the American Institute of Architects, and the Cabinet Makers Association (CMA).

The Hardware We Use

All of the hardware used for our work is of the highest quality and built to last for many years. All of our cabinets utilize Julius Blum operating hardware including the Tandem Plus drawer slides with Blumotion. Stainless steel door pulls, chrome wire storage shelving, dishwasher safe cutlery trays and frosted tempered glass door panels are among the many options available. A local metal fabrication shop is often used to complete the custom designed metal work that is an integral part of many projects.
